FAQ

1) For which Insurance providers are you an In Network provider?

Answer: Anthem, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tricare, MaineCare, Martin's Point Healthcare Inc.

2) Do I need a referral from my Doctor to be able to see you or to use my insurance to see you?

Answer: It is always a good idea to inquire about your insurance benefits before calling for a therapy appointment as different policies have different referral procedures.

3) If I am a divorced parent and I want to bring my child to see you, do I need to have the child's other parent give permission for me to do so?

Answer: If you and your ex-partner share Joint Rights and Responsibilities for your child(ren) then, yes, both parents are required to give permission in order for me to see a child in therapy.

4) Do you charge for a session if I have to miss it?

Answer: Cancellation for a session needs to be at least 24hrs in advance unless the cancellation is due to bad weather conditions, illness or family emergency.

5) How long have you been a practicing therapist and what is your specialty?

Answer: I have been a practicing therapist for 35 years. I maintain a general practice, seeing patients from 1 to 100 years old. I have specialty training in providing play assessments and therapy and in doing psychological assessments of children and adolescents.

6) How long does therapy usually last?

Answer: Therapy interventions range in length from single sessions to several years of care. How long therapy last depends on the nature of the problem in living for which you are seeking help and the type of intervention you are requesting. A determination for Short-term problem focused therapy or Longer term personality work will be a joint decision made by both therapist and patient. Short term therapy generally lasts between 8 and 10 sessions. Longer term personality work can range up to several years.
